Aishwarya Rai Bachchan finally left the Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai on Tuesday Afternoon after the birth of her daughter on November 16, 2011.
A week after she delivered a baby girl, actress Aishwarya Rai was discharged from a Mumbai hospital on Tuesday. As soon as she and her family reached home, the Bachchans called a press conference at their office ABC Corp in Juhu, a western suburb.
Amitabh thanked the media for giving them their privacy. He said “You all had promised that you will stay away and you all did that, my family is grateful to you all. It was a very private moment for the family.”
Amitabh added, “Today we bought betiya home we are all very happy with this, hamare ghar Laxmi aayi hai, Abhishek, Aishwarya and betiya all are well and in good health, life changes when a new life comes to your house. I would say Laxmi Ratna has arrived in our house’.
The Beti B was first taken to their old house Pratiksha. “There is blessing from my parents and everybody in my family, so we first went to Pratiksha because that is our first home after taking blessing from my ma, babuji (Amitabh’s parents) we have come to Jalsa’,” Amitabh said
Asked if they has taken the child to a temple, Abhishek replied ‘We have a small mandir in our house (Pratiksha) build by my grandfather and that was the first place we took her.”
When asked how the child looks, Amitabh said ‘I think the child looks like Aishwarya but you all know that a child’s face changes every day, but I still want to believe that she has Aishwarya’s face but few people in house believe that there is some resemblance with Abhishek.”
When as how being a parent has changed him, Abhishek said, ‘It is not even been a week, so there hasn’t been any changes, it is a blessing and it is a wonderful and we are just enjoying the moment right now.”
He further added, “I don’t think there has been any change, being the person that I am I think if I be half a good a father to my daughter as my father has been to my sister and myself I will be happy.”
About the child’s name, Abhishek said, “We haven’t thought of any name yet, all the members of family are thinking what name to give to the betiya who has come, if you all have any suggestions we will be very happy”
“Abhishek and Aishwarya wanted the name to start with the letter A, Abhishek and me both wrote it on twitter too and now it has spread so much that all are sending so many names,” Amitabh said
When asked about the child’s naming ceremony, Amitabh said, “There is no celebration or any special occasion for naming the child we will just a select a name and keep it, I know people have naming ceremony for their kids but we never had anything like that for any kids, nor do we believe that it should be done on so and so date and the name of the letter should be so and so, we don’t believe in all this, it just came to our mind that the name should start with A we will think something on that lines and then keep it, whoever wants to come to house to see the child they are welcome.”
Abhishek further added ‘My grandfather did not believe in all this, he always said you get a good name keep it you don’t need celebration for that’
Amitabh gave the whole account of what happened ‘Ashiwarya got admitted on the 14th as the doctor said the child could be born any time now. The baby was delivered on the 16th morning we were all at the hospital, it was a normal delivery just as Aishwarya wanted, I want to compliment her because she bore the pain for three hours she was into acute labour but still she did not go for an epidural or painkiller’
Jaya Bachchan wanted a daughter and a daughter is born but she is not to be seen anywhere to which Amitabh said, “Jaya has given all her time to the child and she is very happy that a daughter has been born, Abhishek also wanted a daughter, I have said I don’t mind anything happening just let it happen that’s it.”
When asked if being an actor, it would not be easy to spend time with the child, Abhishek said, “I am a child of two actors they did not have any problem spending time with me. I don’t remember any occasion, any school play, any sporting day, parent weekend that my father and mother were not there for me; I never felt that void or vacuum when I was growing up, I will get very good training from the best (points out to his father), so I think I will be able to cope.”
When asked about Aishwarya, Abhishek said, “Aishwarya is very tired but she is very happy, the best blessing a child can get was that the whole family was together my parents and my in-laws, all the four grand parents gave the child blessings’.
After the press conference, the actress came down to give the media a glimpse.
On whether the family asked the News Broadcasters Association not to cover this whole thing, Amitabh replied “That is wrong I never asked the NBA anything, in fact they themselves took this decision, I did not also speak to anyone in the ministry of information and broadcasting.”
On how much time they will spend with the kid, Amitabh said, “I am jobless now as my (television) show Kaun Banega Crorepati just got over and I don’t have any movies in hand so I will have lots of time to spend with my granddaughter’
Abhishek replied “I will be at work from tomorrow; I am busy promoting Players, which is releasing on January 6. Then film shoots will start in another week.”
On whether his daughter cries at night he said, “My daughter allows me to sleep at night, she is very sweet and obedient, does not make any fuss, does not cry much, she is very quiet, she is behaving very well’
Has the news that he is a father sunk in yet? Abhishek said: “I am still getting use to being refereed to as dad whenever I read in the paper and anyone referred to me as ‘her Pa’ I would think it is my dad whom I call Pa that they were writing about, so yes it is going to take a little for me to get used to being referred as a father because for me there is only one Pa — that is my father, there is still time to get used to and it has not sunk in yet.”
